High School Tennis Season is Upon Us

It has been a fantastic summer! It went by super fast, and I am already ready for another high school tennis season! With that in mind, there are a few things you should do to prepare for the year.

First, you should prepare your body mentally and physically to start a new season. I am going to assume that you have been out playing at least some tennis this summer. If you have, you realize that the Texas heat can be quite intense, especially on the tennis court where temperatures can reach 120+ on a typical summer day. You should acclimate your body to the heat so you are prepared. Do this by practicing out in the extreme heat. You can start slowly with a short session and work your way up from there. Also, mentally prepare yourself. Get your mind on tennis and focus your attention on building confidence in your game.

Second, prepare your equipment. Make sure rackets are strung to your liking. Strings lose tension over time, so should be restrung regularly. Make sure you have shoes suited for tennis and that they are in good condition. Make sure you have a water jug, so you can stay hydrated. Finally, hats, sunscreen, and towels are necessities in hot weather.

Preparedness is key for a successful season start! Make sure you are as prepared as possible and your results will be positive!
